First of all.....Welcome!

 

'Im a registered midwife with over 36 years of experience and also a Paediatric First Aid Trainer, but most importantly, someone who genuinely cares about giving parents the confidence to look after their little ones.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 before training as a midwife at Birmingham Women's Hospital in 1990. Since then, I've had the privilege of caring for thousands of women, babies and families, both here in the UK and during five amazing years working as a midwife in the Caribbean.

 

Over the years I've worked in a variety of roles, including Labour Ward Manager at Heartlands Hospital, where I spent many years as an Advanced Newborn Resuscitation Practitioner. I've cared for babies in those first precious moments of life, including those who needed emergency resuscitation, and I've learned just how important it is to stay calm, act quickly and know exactly what to do.

 

Thankfully, serious emergencies involving babies and children are rare. But if the unthinkable ever did happen, wouldn't it be reassuring to know you had the knowledge and confidence to help your baby?  That's exactly why I teach Baby First Aid!

 

My courses aren't about frightening you or filling your head with worst-case scenarios. They're about giving you practical skills, easy-to-follow advice and the confidence to deal with everyday emergencies calmly and effectively.

 

There are no silly questions in my classes. Whether you're expecting your first baby, already juggling a busy family, or you're a grandparent wanting to brush up on your skills, you'll be made to feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door.

 

Parents often tell me that by the end of the course they feel so much more confident, and that's exactly what I hope you'll leave with too.

 

I truly believe that every parent and carer should know basic first aid, because you never really know when you might need it, but if that day ever comes, the knowledge you gain today could make all the difference.
